Regrets. As humans, we have a lot of them. These regrets come in all colors. Some regrets are yellow, something you laugh about; some are green, they make you envious of something; some are white, they make you cry; some are red, they make you anxious; some are black, these are the dark ones you never want any one to know about; and then some are pink, they make you wanna face-palm yourself and say, “What the hell was I thinking?”
Today, I’ll share with you some of my pink regrets. And since I have uncountable number of regrets, I’m going to keep this as my Beauty Edition.
Making a Tight Pony Tail
When I was younger, it pained me when my pony tail was loose. It irritated me and I would squeeze the hair apart until the pony was practically pushed into my scalp. All of my hair would be tightly tied as if someone was constantly pulling the hairs back.
I regret doing that so much. Although it made me happy at that time, but by doing that, I have pulled out a lot of my hairs from the front, and it makes me feel like I’m bald. It’s not a cute look. The only hairdo that suits me is having my hair down. I don’t know what I was thinking back then. Maybe it made me comfortable having my hair pulled back tightly, but I looked really bad. The pictures, too, are painful for me to see.
Eating Like I Would Die the Next Moment
I used to eat like there was no tomorrow. Food was my weakness (It actually still is), and I would say yes to anything that is edible (still kinda do). What this did was, you guessed it right, it made me fat.
Gaining weight is the easiest thing in the world for most people; but losing it is hell. If you love food, having to cut it down is like a punishment. So, I regret not taking a balanced diet in my younger age. Too much of anything is not good.
Applying Crap Ton of Kohl
There was no limit. I would go into my Hashmi Surmi, take the wand out, and put it in my eye. I would keep applying it back and forth in my eye until the black started to spread out of the waterline. Then I would apply the kohl as a liner on my lid, and then I would spread it out on my lower lash line as well.
So since it was kohl, it would smudge a lot and spread around my eye all day. What I used to do was that I would take a cloth or a tissue, and rub the kohl off. I used to be very harsh with the skin around my eyes. And I would do this every single day. This resulted in me having fine lines under my eyes.
Not Having a Skin Care Routine
I’m currently 22 (23 in a few days), and I have been taking care of my skin a lot. Alhamdolillah, I have been blessed with good skin, but I had done absolutely nothing to keep my skin in a good condition when I was younger. I didn’t drink enough water, didn’t know what a sunscreen was, I didn’t even have a moisturizer.
Out of all the skin care steps, I regret no moisturizing my skin. No matter dry or oily, having your skin moisturized keeps it from aging. I ask all 15+ year old girls to do nothing for their skins except moisturize it. And I regret not being the one who took care of her skin from a young age. But alhamdolillah for good skin, I’m going to keep taking care of it now.
Doing Makeup as if it’s my Wedding Day
I’m not even exaggerating. I didn’t know a lot about makeup back then, but whatever I knew, I put it to “good” use. I knew glittery eye looks, and these were the only shadows I would wear on my eyes. I used to wear heavy base and kept applying more powder. When I found out about contour; I would go nowhere without it. And don’t even get me started on highlighters. I looked like a grease ball through and through.
Once, I was all dolled up in my School’s annual function, and I got a comment saying, “Valimay mein ai ho?” I felt humiliated (being the self conscious yet over confident young lady I was).
Yeah, so these are some of the things I regret from my childhood. I have excluded many, like, being the first person to tweeze my eyebrows out and being left with, well, sperm brows; dressing up like a desi aunty at the age of 14, and what not.
Don’t forget to leave a comment and share your biggest beauty regret.
